  • The majority of their profit comes from the ostrich’s skin which can be made into leather.
  • Ostriches get most of their water needs from the plants they eat.
  • Their eggs weigh up to 3 pounds each and are delicious!
  • Lacking teeth, ostriches will swallow pebbles to grind their food.  An adult ostrich is usually carrying about 2.2 pounds of pebbles at any given time.
  • Ostriches have the largest eyes of any land animal including elephants!
  • Their eyes are larger than their brain.
  • Contrary to popular belief, ostriches do not bury their heads in the sand.
